First vivid GRK 2576 retreat as an online meeting came up roses!

Zoom

Our first vivid GRK 2576 retreat took place on May 5th, 2021. Although we could not meet in person because of the persistent corona pandemic, our retreat came up as a very nice and inspiring online event where 42 members, associated scientists and guests met altogether. 13 PhD and MD students reported about their exciting investigations, and we had fruitful discussions.

We were very glad having two guest speakers at our retreat: Prof. Hans-Peter Hammes of the University Heidelberg gave us exciting insights into his RTG 1874 DIAMICOM as an example for translational diabetes research. And Prof. Tobias Marschall of the Institute for Medical Biometry and Bioinformatics of the HHU presented highly novel data related to the detection and relevance of structural genetic variants, an emerging field in genome research.

Following the official program we got together on wonder.me, a virtual platform where we had easy communication in flexible group sizes, continued discussions and enjoyed snacks and drinks.
